mochi and paxton, los angeles

Mochi and Paxton are the cutest little puppy brothers! Don’t you love their haircuts? Mochi looks like a fluffy marshmallow and Paxton reminds me of a teddy bear.

My clients have the coolest houses and furniture:

Paxton and Mochi have a teenage “sister” who is just lovely:

Phyllis and Chloe, thank you for a fun photo shoot! I hope you love these photos as much as I do.

freeze, beans, & mouse; santa monica

I had a great photo shoot last week with 3 adorable cats — Freeze, Beans, and Mouse. Their dad Mark is a talented copywriter at an awesome ad agency, so I guess it only makes sense that his cats would have some really cool names.

Freeze is the outgoing one of the bunch. She kind of reminded me of a dog. Mark once even brought her to the dog-friendly ad agency once

Mark is a super manly guy — he’s really tall and has a loud deep voice. He’s also a major cat guy and he’s not afraid to admit it:

Beans was shy, but warmed up to me pretty fast. She totally hammed it up for the camera.

And then there was Mouse. He was SO PAINFULLY SHY I wasn’t sure if I’d get any shots of him. Luckily I got some good ones in.

Mark and Steph, hope you like the photos! Your cats are awesome.

senior sneak peeks.

I love photographing senior dogs. There’s something so graceful and wise about them. Last week I had the pleasure of taking photos of some very sweet seniors. (I’m going to combine these 2 photo sessions into one post because I still have 6 more sneak peek posts due)

First is Lola, a 15 year old German Shepherd mix. She was found on the streets of downtown LA and rescued by her amazing owners. She looks GOOD for her age, doesn’t she? Lola basically hated the camera. She much preferred staring at all the other dogs at the park and didn’t perk up until I brought out some dehydrated beef treats. And this is exactly why I bring a variety of treats with me on shoots - dehydrated chicken, dehydrated beef, dry biscuit treats, and peanut butter jerky treats. Because you never know if you’re going to get a picky baby!

Next up is sweet Jenny. Jenny is a 15 year old mini shnauzer. Jenny is hard of hearing and can barely see, but her sense of smell is still IMPECCABLE. I controlled her eyeline by holding up a treat and she followed it around as if her eyes were still 20/20.

She has a hard time standing on the slippery wood floor, so she ends up sprawled out like this:

Jenny adores her mama:

Bob, thank you so much for a wonderful photo shoot last week! Lola is so beautiful. I hope you love the photos.

Peyton, thank you for choosing me to be your pet photographer. It was a pleasure meeting you and sweet Jenny!

Stay tuned for the rest of your photos!

they have names!

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

Wow you guys are amazingly creative. And FAST!

I can see a lot of these names being used eventually by the Paw’d Squad. So thanks so much for participating in the contest! It was a lot of fun reading through the name ideas.

But Carole has picked the winners… Drumroll please…

Meet:

Congratulations to Jen S. who came up with Buffet, and Tracie G. who came up with Boss! Please email me your address and I’ll send you your pack of greeting cards this week! {chonster (at) gmail (dot) com}

i found 2 stray puppies!

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Yep. 2 stray puppies are currently living at my home.

They are the cutest, scruffiest little babies EVER. They were really afraid of me and skittish at first but after lots of love and treats, they’ve totally warmed up to me and are sooooo friendly and outgoing now. They love crawling into my lap and giving me kisses. They love smiling. And most of all, they love each other. I spy on them sometimes and catch them wrestling around.

These little guys are going to the vet on Wednesday to get fixed and vaccinated, and then the amazing Carole from the Paw’d Squad will graciously foster them! I tried to get some good photos of them today but they are so freaking scared of the camera. I’ll have to try again in a few weeks.

But the thing is, we can’t decide on names for these scruffy guys! So how about a contest?

Propose 2 adorable boy names that match the cuteness of these little babies. Leave your submissions in the comment boxes. And Carole from the Paw’d Squad will pick her favorites. The winner will get a pack of 5×7 press printed greeting cards. The contest ends TOMORROW on Tuesday November 18th at 12PM California time.

PS: They look so much older and serious in these photos than they do in real life. I think it’s because the camera really freaked them out. Just my luck — a pet photographer finds 2 amazingly adorable doggies that hate the camera!

The inside says “Just peeking in to say Hi!”

I’m so excited to see some of the name submissions. We had one idea — “Humphrey” and “Bogart.” Yay? Nay?
