the tarzan book.

I love coffee table books. Love designing them, love putting all the photos together like little puzzle pieces, and love seeing the finished, glossy product.

How gorgeous is this family?

Ok so as a designer and art director, here’s the most important tip I think there is when you’re designing a coffee table book:

KEEP IMPORTANT ELEMENTS OF YOUR PHOTO OUT OF THE GUTTER.

Avoid doing this like the plague. It’s just really bad design, and you’re ruining what’s probably a perfect, gorgeous photo when you do this.

That’s pretty much it : )

Lately I’ve had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful, sweet senior dogs and Rosie was no exception.

Her mama says Rosie is deaf but that didn’t stop us from having a really fun, relaxed photoshoot at their house.

Lisa, thank you so much for giving your friend a wonderful birthday present! And thank you Kristen and Rosie for such a great photo shoot.

gus & lola, playa del rey.

Monday, December 8th, 2008

Gus and Lola are two adorable little rescue dogs that look like they could be related… but they’re not! We met on a very foggy, overcast day at a little teeny park in Playa del Rey. Aside from my frozen fingers and nose I didn’t mind the fog though… it made for some interesting, non Los Angeles-esque photos.

If you can believe it, little Lola was so freaked out by my camera in the beginning. I seriously wondered if we’d get any decent shots in. And then suddenly the shy little caterpillar blossomed into a beautiful butterfly that would NOT stop posing. And Gus, well he was just a ham.

Gus says CHEESE!

He has such a Shiba Inu like tail:

Lola is intense…

…especially when it comes to digging:

I really like these next 2 family shots:

Thanks for a fun photo shoot Sara and Matt! I see some very beautiful Holiday cards in your near future : )

nickerson, long beach ca.

Nickerson is truly one of the most cooperative, photogenic dogs I’ve had the pleasure of photographing. This guy has the HUGEST smile and is the best little poser. Somebody get this guy an agent!

He’s so cute with his brindle coloring — doesn’t Nickerson kind of look like a mini Boxer?

Nickerson has a toy for every occasion:

What a smile!

So Nickerson’s mom and dad are huge football fans. He’s even named after a stadium in Boston, their hometown. Nickerson was totally ready to watch Sunday football with his dad:

No words.

Don’t let these photos fool you - fall in Los Angeles does NOT look like the fall I’m used to back on the east coast. But it’s funny — there was a lone tree shedding gorgeous fall leaves right across the street from Nickerson’s house! How perfect for a bunch of east coast transplants.

Alyson and Justin, I had SO MUCH FUN with you guys! Thanks for such a great photoshoot — Nickerson is such a doll.

i love this face.

SWAMPED. SWAMPED. SWAMPED. I’M SWAMPED!!!

It’s 4PM and I haven’t even eaten a thing yet. My eyes are blurry. My wrist is sore.

But this photo of Luna makes happy. I can’t believe I almost overlooked this photo.
