jack & lucky, hollywood pet photography.

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

I had the extreme privilege of photographing 2 of the most adorable flat coated retrievers and their family in the Hollywood Hills. This was my very first pet photoshoot involving children - and I have to give major props to all the incredible kid photographers out there because shooting kids is HARD! Hard, but so much fun! Jack & Lucky’s “sister” was stinking adorable and I had such a great time hanging out with her wonderful family.

On a sad note, sweet Jack has recently been diagnosed with cancer. But he’s doing great so far and didn’t let a pesky thing like cancer get in the way of his modeling debut!

Here’s Jack with his adorable “little sis” –

Jack has a little brother named Lucky and boy does Lucky loooooove giving Jack kisses. This happened a lot during our shoot.

Best. Chair. EVER:

Seriously, could this girl BE ANY CUTER?! I can’t stand it!

Jack is a total mama’s boy and has such an amazing bond with her.

Oh sweet Lucky! I love this goofy face.

Lucky just CAN’T stop kissing his big brother!

Dear Lucky, Jack, A + D + R, thank you so much for such a great photo shoot! It was an honor meeting your family and am sending Jack lots of love for a speedy recovery from his cancer.

shine pet photos at royal/t.

My friend and fellow pet photographer Sarah let me know a few months ago about a national competition in search of the next emerging, fine-art pet photographer. I’ve never even used the words “fine-art” to describe my style of photography but decided to give it a go.

They announced the winners of the competition last week and I found out…. I WON!

(Click for a larger flyer)

I think the coolest thing about winning this competition is that I get my own art opening during the Culver City ARTWALK on Saturday May 30th. My photography will be showcased at the Royal/T during the ARTWALK and for 4 weeks after - it’s truly an amazing space!

I’ll be at the Royal/T on May 30th from 12-7PM for the opening, and then afterwards from 7-10PM for the after party with open bar. The party will also feature a multimedia showcase of the other 4 finalists (including my homie Nicole! Congrats chica!)

So please consider this your invitation to come hang out and party your face off! Mark Saturday May 30th on your calendars. And if you can’t make it on the 30th, maybe you could swing by and check out the show another day! Congrats to all the finalists and thanks to the judges over at Unscene and Royal/T for choosing my work. It is truly an honor to be the winner of this amazing competition.

pancho, lola, & mister bear; hollywood pet photography

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

Meet Pancho, Lola and Mister Bear. A pair of Shih Tzus and a big Rottweiler may not seem the likeliest of companions, but let me assure you that the trio are total besties.

Pancho the big guy is the sweetest, cuddliest bear of a dog. When he wasn’t slobbering all over my face, he was cuddling up against me with his big bum.

Mister Bear is the baby of the family.

And little miss Lola is the queen of the family:

Jennifer and Curtis, photographing your dogs was a blast — thanks for a fun time and for all your hospitality. Hope you like the photos!

rest in peace loppy; newport beach pet photography.

A few weeks ago, I scheduled a client at the last minute because she had some sad news - her beloved dog Loppy had been diagnosed with nasal cancer and she wasn’t sure how long she had to live. So I took a drive down to Newport Beach to meet sweet Loppy and her mom and dad.

Yes, shooting dogs with terminal illnesses is always incredibly heart breaking. It takes great effort not to break down in tears. But at the same time, our photoshoot was such a fun celebration of Loppy and the amazing time she’s had with her family. Loppy’s sweet strength and incredible joy for life is almost tangible in these photos. She looked great and felt great, and we had a wonderful time hanging out at her favorite places with her 2 favorite people.

What has 4 legs, orange fur, and drives Loppy craaaaaazy? PS: Loppy’s mama is a professional dancer. Look at those perfect dancer toes. : )

Shooting at the beach right before sunset is heavenly.

Best buddies for life:

Guess who loves splashing around in the ocean?

Melanie and Chris, it was an honor photographing you and Loppy. I’m so glad we had the chance to meet. I hope these photos bring you some comfort and healing. Wishing you guys all the best. Loppy, you were so loved and were so lucky to have had a great life with your mom and dad. Hope you are happy and running free on a beach over the rainbow bridge.
