This photoshoot was a lot of fun, but proofing the photos was even more so. Because almost every photo of these funny, googly-eyed dogs made me smile. Poofie and Weston look like 2 little men trapped in small, furry bodies. Those googly eyes! Those gappy, crooked teeth!

Here’s Weston. He also reminds me of the Gosselin kids (especially Hannah). Might be those giant eyes and the downward mouth. Or maybe I’m just crazy.

And here’s Poofie. Doesn’t he look like a little man with a middle part (aka “butt cut!)? I’m so tempted to photoshop nerd glasses on his face.

Ok, I had to do it. Here’s “Poof-Dexter” -

I actually had to do quite a bit of retouching on all these photos - Weston had a scratch on his eye that resulted in some cloudiness, and he also had some darkness around his eyes as many small dogs tend to have. No problemo - nothing a little Photoshop can’t handle!

I recently had the opportunity to shoot my oldest and youngest dog clients to date, together in one shoot.

Stella is an adorable 12 week old pug puppy that I just wanted to hide under my shirt and bring home with me. She’s covered in little wrinkles and pudgy pug rolls and I couldn’t stop squealing over her absolute cuteness.

Her sister Chloe is a 16 year old pug who was on the last few days of her life when I met her. She couldn’t walk, couldn’t hear, and couldn’t go to the bathroom without her mama’s help. But our shoot was a wonderful celebration of the charmed life she lived!

5 days after our shoot, Chloe was peacefully put to sleep.

Chloe LOVES peanut butter:

Ear flip alert!

All tuckered out:

Rest in peace, dear sweet Chloe. It was an honor and privilege to meet you. May you be running and licking lots of peanut butter over the rainbow bridge.

It’s always so cool to see your puppy clients grow up.

I met Cyrus last year when she was just 11 months old and recently saw her again for a big-girl shoot. And when I say big-girl… do I mean big girl!

Back that thang up Cyrus!

The look on her face is SO PRECIOUS in this next shot:

I love it when leaves get stuck to my mile-long string of drool, don’t you?

Beautiful crimped doggy fur, a la 1987.

Puppy eyes kill me every time.

(Click for some images from Mickey’s book)

I just received the sad news this morning that Mickey lost his fight with lymphoma on Sunday July 19th. His cancer returned and his poor little body couldn’t fight it anymore. He was put to sleep at home, surrounded by all of his family, favorite toys and blankets.

Mickey fought a truly courageous battle and brought so much comfort and joy to his mom and dad every second he was on this earth. I am so sorry for your loss - Mickey was truly the best. And I feel so blessed to have met him.

June 20th was “Take Your Dog to Work Day” this year - did you bring your dogs to work with you?

I guess you could say every day is “Take Your Dog to Work Day” for my clients. Vance and Lacey’s mom and dad run their own businesses so the duo goes to work everyday with their owners! I loved that we started our shoot at the office.

This is handsome Vance:

And sweet Lacey - seriously, could she look any happier than this?

Lacey’s got her office manners down pretty well. You know, shaking hands with new people and stuff.

They have their own little outdoor area at the office for al fresco meetings:

And they go for walks by this cool mural everyday:

But after a hard day at the office, Vance and Lacey really know how to let loose. They bring new meaning to the phrase “Work hard, play harder.”

It’s Vance’s toy…

Until Lacey makes the steal:

So what’s really hilarious is that Vance refuses to swim in the pool. He watches as Lacey does her doggy paddle in the pool:

But the minute she gets out - ATTACK!

I’d say she’s pretty proud of herself.

Such is the hard life of a working dog!
