It’s been an insanely busy few months here and sadly, my poor blog has been sorely neglected. But I wanted to post some happenings in Shine Pet Photos land up here before it was 2010!

I’ll do a longer blog post about this one later, but this book is incredibly inspiring and has such valuable information. I can’t wait to read more of this while on my holiday break. David offers a ton of information on how to be a professional photographer and make a life and living in the industry. He also offers 9 different profiles of photographers who are working full-time and making a living at the craft - like Zack Arias, Chase Jarvis, and (gulp) me!

There’s a bunch more stuff in the works right now that I’ll blog about once everything is more solid. Whew. I’m tired just writing about all this.

To everyone who watched the episode of How I Met Your Mother last week and offered so many nice comments on the blog, Twitter and Facebook - THANK YOU! I had a viewing party last week at my place with the boyfriend and Laura Nativo and her dog Preston Casanova, who was featured in the gallery on the show. It was fun to see the episode (and to see the credit to “Shine Pet Photos” at the end - but if you blinked you probably missed it)!

We had a day to cast the dogs, and less than 24 hours to photograph 9 different doggie models. I haven’t felt this kind of physical and mental exhaustion since my days of working in advertising. Seriously, your dogs may look all cute and sexy when they’re relaxing with you at home, but can you imagine how hard it is when there’s a strange lady there with a camera in their face??

So I have to give a huge shout out to all the owners and doggies who endured this very strange, yet hilarious photoshoot. Thank you so much to Tina + Oliver, Cyrani + Piper, Nathan + Edgar, Laura + Preston + Penelope, Christiane + London, Kim + Mouse, and of course my own 2 dogs.

Sorry to those whose dogs did not make “The Slut Cut!”

Oh the adventures of being a pet photographer!

I was approached by the producers of How I Met Your Mother last month to shoot some photos for a very funny show tonight!
