jack & lucky, hollywood pet photography.
May 27th, 2009I had the extreme privilege of photographing 2 of the most adorable flat coated retrievers and their family in the Hollywood Hills. This was my very first pet photoshoot involving children - and I have to give major props to all the incredible kid photographers out there because shooting kids is HARD! Hard, but so much fun! Jack & Lucky’s “sister” was stinking adorable and I had such a great time hanging out with her wonderful family.
On a sad note, sweet Jack has recently been diagnosed with cancer. But he’s doing great so far and didn’t let a pesky thing like cancer get in the way of his modeling debut!

Here’s Jack with his adorable “little sis” –
Jack has a little brother named Lucky and boy does Lucky loooooove giving Jack kisses. This happened a lot during our shoot.

Best. Chair. EVER:

Seriously, could this girl BE ANY CUTER?! I can’t stand it!
Jack is a total mama’s boy and has such an amazing bond with her.

Oh sweet Lucky! I love this goofy face.

Lucky just CAN’T stop kissing his big brother!

Dear Lucky, Jack, A + D + R, thank you so much for such a great photo shoot! It was an honor meeting your family and am sending Jack lots of love for a speedy recovery from his cancer.

i’m always surprised when pet photogs talk about the difficulty if photographing kids. I actually think children and dogs are pretty similar as subjects — spontaneity is the name of the game and you just need to be there for the moment when it happens. Which you obviously were.
“Best Chair Ever” ranks right up there as one of my favorite Chonster shots but the “kiss” is the money shot by far.

Well lady, for doing your first kid shoot, you picked a tough age to start with! But you know what? YOU NAILED IT! Give yourself a huge pat on the back lady and go get a margarita.

Hmmm - I think I see “lifestyle people photography” in your near future… maybe? I love the life and movement in all of these shots. You did an awesome job. Congrats

Fun.Fun. Fun. They are such beautiful dogs. I think my favorite shot was the dad leaning over hugging one of them.
