maggie & lucy, connecticut; bbo-bbo, los angeles
July 8th, 2008Hope everyone had a fabulous 4th of July weekend! I actually had a 5 day weekend and aside from doing lots of work, I squeezed in lots of personal time with the Boyfriend and our dogs Maeby and Zoey. (All work and no play makes Grace a dull girl!)
A few months ago, I was contacted by a client in Connecticut after she discovered me on PetSugar.com. As it turned out, she would be in Los Angeles visiting family over the 4th of July weekend so we scheduled a session with her 2 gorgeous cocker spaniels Maggie and Lucy. I also photographed her parents’ dog Bbo-Bbo (which is the cutest name for a dog ever! It means “Kiss-Kiss” in Korean). We spent a nice warm evening chatting and hanging out in her parents’ gorgeous backyard.
I usually don’t post so many photos in a sneak peek, but there were too many photos to choose from! Maggie is the tri-color, Lucy is the blonde one, and Bbo-Bbo is the white dog. A big thank you to my clients for giving me the opportunity to photograph such beautiful cocker spaniels (especially from so far away!)

By the way, doesn’t Bbo-Bbo look amazingly human? The minute I saw her I thought, “Whoa, she looks exactly like Amanda Seyfried!” You might not be able to tell from these photos, but Bbo-Bbo was soooo incredibly camera shy, and people shy too. She barely made any eye contact with the camera and pretty much kept her distance from me during our shoot. Photographing shy pets is possible — it just takes some extra patience and TLC!
PS: I finally updated my photo gallery on my website — it was about 5 months overdue, yikes!

Oh my goodness Grace. You’ve outdone yourself on these. They are stunning. I honestly can’t decide on a favourite because they are all so full of character. And what beautiful dogs too. I’ve never seen Cocker Spaniels that look like this. I wonder if the Australian ones are different?
